Research & Policy

Research and policy are the twin engines of lasting change for people living with arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions.

Arthritis Australia unites people with lived experience, researchers, clinicians, and policy-makers to advocate for improved care today – and expand what’s possible tomorrow.

Research

Arthritis Australia connects researchers, people with lived experience and donors to fund research that delivers real-world impact.

Our National Research Program supports scholarships and fellowships to develop the next generation of researchers, and innovative research projects across many types of arthritis – including Ideas Grants for bold, ground-breaking research.

If you have lived experience, you can share your story, apply to join a research project team group or take part in studies. Researchers can apply for grants and collaborate with our consumer panels.

Policy

Arthritis Australia develops policy and reform proposals and advocates to federal government, business, industry and community leaders – raising awareness of the burden and impact of arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions, and pushing for better care, support and quality of life for people with arthritis.

We develop consumer-focused policies, reports and submissions, and participate in consultations on issues that matter most to our community.

Policy turns lived experience insights into actionable recommendations for systemic change – in services, funding and research for people with arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions.

Advocacy

Advocacy is where the rubber hits the road as we work with people living with arthritis and leading experts to put our proposals for change to politicians and policymaker. Find out more about how you can get involved in advocating for our policy positions.
