About Arthritis Australia

Arthritis Australia is Australia’s leading national arthritis charity.

We work for all Australians affected by arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions – partnering with affiliated state and territory arthritis organisations to provide information, programs and support for people of all ages and backgrounds, along with their families and carers.

Our vision: Freedom from arthritis

What We Do

We provide trusted, evidence-based information to help people understand arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions and make informed decisions about their care.

We work with affiliated state and territory arthritis organisations, health organisations and industry to improve the health and wellbeing of people living with arthritis.

We are the leading non-government funders of arthritis research in Australia, supporting the next generation of arthritis researchers and funding innovative research to meet the needs of people living with arthritis.

We listen to people with arthritis and use their experiences to shape our work.

We advocate to governments and industry for better policies, services and funding.

How We Work With Communities

Arthritis can affect anyone and anywhere. We believe everyone deserves support. That means involving people with lived experience in our planning, respecting diverse cultures and identities, and breaking down barriers to access. We also work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, multicultural communities and people with disabilities to better understand their needs.

Research and Innovation

Research is essential to improving life with arthritis.

We fund projects across many types of arthritis – from basic science to clinical and community research – supporting early and mid-career researchers, clinicians and teams working on new treatments and models of care. We prioritise research that partners with people living with arthritis.

Advocacy and Voice

We advocate for the rights and needs of people with arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions at a national level – making submissions, meeting decision-makers and speaking out about the impact of arthritis in the community. We use lived experience and scientific evidence to call for better funding, better access to care and equitable support.

Our Partners

Arthritis Australia works closely with affiliated state and territory organisations, who deliver local programs, services and support.

Our affiliate partners also work with us on national projects and share information and resources through local networks, so support reaches more people.

We also collaborate with national health bodies, research institutes, industry and community organisations that share our commitment to improving life with arthritis.
