Fundraise

Turn doing what you love into something that changes lives

Whether you’re running a marathon, hosting a morning tea, doing a step challenge, having a garage sale or celebrating a birthday, fundraising is a powerful way to support the millions of Australians living with arthritis. The money you raise can help fund research, resources and advocacy for the arthritis community.

Ways to fundraise

There are so many ways to fundraise. It really comes down to what you enjoy and what feels meaningful to you. Some popular ideas include:
Take on a physical challenge: a run, ride, swim, or walk
Host an event: a morning tea, trivia night, dinner party, or workplace bake sale

Celebrate a milestone: ask for donations instead of birthday, wedding, or anniversary gifts

Get sponsored: for a physical, academic or creative challenge you set yourself

Rally your team: organise a workplace, school, or community fundraiser
If you have an idea you’re not sure about, get in touch. We’d love to help you make it happen.

When running any sort of fundraiser for Arthritis Australia, we need you to check in with us to explain your idea. As a charity, we follow regulations set out in Australia and each individual state, so we need to ensure any fundraising on behalf of our organisation is following these. Send us a quick email at fundraising@arthritisaustralia.org.au to discuss.

Getting started is easy

Set up a fundraising page through our platform in just a few minutes. It’s free to use, and donations come straight to Arthritis Australia.

This platform will handle the admin for you, take care of the paperwork and automatically issue tax receipts to your donors. That means you can focus on your event or challenge, not the administration.

Tips for a successful fundraiser

Some of our most successful fundraisers share a few things in common. Here’s what works:
People connect with people, not just causes. Share why you’re fundraising for Arthritis Australia, whether it’s for someone you love, your own experience, or because you want to help find a cure. Your story is what inspires others to give.
A specific fundraising target makes your campaign feel real and achievable. Don’t be afraid to aim high, and you can always raise it once you hit the first milestone.
Share your page on social media, send it to friends and family by email or text, and post regular updates as your campaign progresses. The more often you share, the more people will get involved.

A quick thank-you message goes a long way. People who feel appreciated are more likely to share your page or donate again later.

Fundraising on Facebook

Facebook makes it easy to fundraise for Arthritis Australia, for example, by setting up a birthday fundraiser. It’s a great way to get friends and family involved with just a few clicks.

There are a few things to know before you start:

If you’d like us to acknowledge a donation for a special occasion, like a memorial or milestone, we recommend using our direct platform instead, so we can recognise the person and the occasion properly.

‘Thank you for choosing to fundraise for Arthritis Australia. The money you raise brings us closer to a future free from the pain of arthritis.’ – Louise Hardy, CEO
