Help inform AI in healthcare

The University of Newcastle wants to find out what consumers think about how their health information is used to help create and use smart computer programs (called AI) in health care.

It also looks at what people need to learn about AI. We hope this research will help make new health technology easy to understand, keep people’s information safe, and focus on what consumers need.

Who can participate in the research?

Consumers who have a history of ongoing or intensive healthcare engagement, for example-

  • Chronic health condition that requires ongoing healthcare engagement
  • Hospitalization for a chronic condition which they have been hospitalized related to complications of the condition in the last 12 months (e.g., chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (i.e. COPD)
  • Regular health screenings (e.g., cervical, breast, cardiovascular disease (CVD), diabetes, bowel, lung cancer, prostate) at least three times (e.g., had at least three smears) including in the last 12 months.
  • Specialist care for a disease requiring regular engagement with specialist healthcare services.
  • Parents/caregivers of child with health conditions requiring specialist or hospital level care (e.g. congenital heart condition).

What’s involved?

Interviews can be conducted online or via telephone, last approximately 30–45 minutes, and participants will receive a $40 giftpay card as appreciation for their time and effort.
